Beware of Fading Hair Color
The color inside the package differs from the
color outside the package.
R
eports of faded colored hair sold at beauty
supply stores have been trending lately. As
lovers of custom colors and hair researchers,
we at CosmoBiz had to learn more. After
we requested a variety of samples, from both users
who had purchased faded hair and shops who had
noticed it, here, we began our investigation. While this
mystery was originally perplexing; the end findings
were extremely simple; all the product had been over
exposed to sunlight.

The condition of the hair
that arrived in our offices
was actually in a state of
deteriorated color. The
area covered by the brand
label was protected from
ultraviolet rays, so the
color was protected as it
was in the original dye-
ing, but the uncovered
hair had faded. There was
a clear border between
the part where the label
was covered and the part
where it was not, and the
line was visible. Because
it was easy to notice with
the naked eye, the con-
sumer who bought the
product should have seen
the altered color and decided not to purchase it. The
retailer who sent this particular hair said, “I was careful
to protect the color, so I turned the product upside down
so that the light could not pass through it. If you do not
know, you might be surprised if you take out the col-
ored hair on the display and store it in the store. I would
rather have it covered with a piece of thin paper like in
the old days,” he said.
