The Module 2 students were required to work hard from day one , thus their mind set was in the right place from the start . Three students retracted from Module 2 during the year and a further five did not meet the exam entry criteria . The remaining 19 students all passed the October Exams and will be awarded their Diplomas at the Student Prize Giving in January 2017 . Module 2 presents a unique challenge to students in that they need to do a time framed development to meet a specific launch date – so here they need to perform and no excuse will ever justify missing a launch date in this competitive industry .
Having to write Supplementary Exams is never a good place for students to find themselves . Firstly , it is sure to wreck your hard earned December break and secondly the Supplementary Exams always seem to be more complicated than their October counterparts . Unfortunately , there are always those individuals that need to step up to this challenge and surprisingly enough they are able prove their worth in many cases . Good information to bear in mind when enrolling for the Cosmetic Science Diploma is - Supplementary Exams should be avoided at all costs .
A number of changes were introduced into the course material to keep it abreast of the changing industry practices and regulatory environment . We endeavour to keep our course material relevant and representative of current norms in the cosmetic industry at all times . For this reason we do not recommend that students take a break between Module 1 and Module 2 as the course material is evolving all the time .
The Cosmetic Science Diploma remains a highly respected and sought after qualification in the cosmetic industry .
Its success is based on the fact that no standards have ever been dropped or compromised over the years and the style of learning equips students to be valuable cosmetic industry players . This Diploma will remain one that all holders can be proud to have . We congratulate all our successful students of 2016 and especially those who achieved a distinction .
Distinctions in Module 1 were awarded to Megan Bennett , Carine Champion , Sansha Coetzee , Claire Leisher and Holly Thomas . A distinction in Module 2 was awarded to Karien Burger .
Special Awards are also given to those students who excel overall or in certain disciplines . Top Module 1 Student was awarded to Megan Bennett . Top Module 2 Student went to Karien Burger . The Norman Sanan Award , which is for the top Module 2 Project also went to Karien Burger . These 4students most certainly did themselves and our Course proud . The Creativity Award , which is for the most creative Module 2 Presentation , went to Stephanie Gompel who entertained her audience with her vibrant and contagious personality .
On a personal note , as Education Officer and Chairperson of the Education Committee , 2016 was to be my last year in these roles so that I could free up my time to pursue my dreams before I head too far into the twilight years . However , this was not to be as the role I have played for the last fifteen years has proved more difficult to fill than expected . So I will continue to fill my so called “ big shoes ” into 2017 while they search for the fairy tale “ Cinderella ”.
Thanks , thanks and more thanks to my unfailing Education Committee who mark Assignments , set Exams , lecture , help review student ’ s results and advise on dealing with student issues . Special thanks to Roy Gardiner for picking up the pieces and updating the notes when lecturers find themselves swamped with work commitments and unable to deliver on time . Roy , thanks too for wading through those thousands of pages that make up the Module 2 Project submissions to extract and determine if the student has successfully met the brief . Your expertise in this is core to obtaining an expected and fair outcome . This is a very special Committee , because we need to meet the needs of students , which can be emotional and draining at times . “ Education is a calling ” and it takes special people to deliver on this and step up to make a difference . Let ’ s push and see what miracles we can perform in 2017 .
