The La Grulla native permitted three singles and one walk while striking out a season-high six batters. Facing Missions closer Jeremy McBryde in the ninth, Ryan McCurdy coaxed a four-pitch, lead-off walk. Jonathan Meyer executed a sac bunt but McBryde’s throw hit Meyer in the back. McCurdy advanced to third on the play. With the infield drawn in, pinch-hitter Michael Burgess smacked a base hit up the middle, plating the lone run of the game. Alex Sogard survived a lead-off single in the home half and managed to get the final out with the tying run 90 feet away. The result marked Corpus Christi’s sixth 1-0 victory of the season and the first postseason 1-0 win in club history. 143
