A total of nine Hooks took part in the classic , played at historic Ray Winder Field . Josh Anderson knocked in the game ’ s only run with a ground-ball out in the top of the third as the South beat the North 1-0 , garnering Anderson game MVP honors . Gutierrez was the starting and winning pitcher , blanking the North over the first two innings . Matt Albers , Paul Estrada and Jailen Peguero each tossed an inning of shutout ball , with Peguero getting the save .
In a game dominated by pitching and defense , the two squads combined for just eight hits – four on each side . J . R . House , who started the game at first , moved behind the plate in the fifth . That put him in position to tag out a sliding Troy Tulowitzki in the sixth . Tulowitzki tried to score from third on Jordan Czarniecki ’ s ground ball to third baseman Vasili Spanos .
