A couple of Hooks distinguished themselves in the 74th Texas League All-Star Game. Jordan Lyles, just 19 years
of age, tossed an inning of shutout relief in the fourth and was the winning pitcher as the South edged the North
5-4. Lyles allowed one single and threw 19 pitches, 12 for strikes.
Left fielder J.B. Shuck made the play of the night. With two on and two out in the top of the ninth, Tim Smith of
Northwest Arkansas singled to left. Tulsa’s Wilin Rosario tried to score from second on the play, but Shuck made
a perfect throw to Hooks’ catcher Lou Santangelo, who tagged Rosario at the plate for the game’s final out. Shuck
also made a great leaping catch in the sixth, robbing Springfield’s Curt Smith of an extra-base hit to the gap in
left-center, denying the North another run. For his efforts in the field, Shuck was voted the game’s MVP.
