Cody Stanley’s two-run home run off Hooks hurler Kyle Smith in the fourth inning earned the Springfield catcher
MVP honors and handed the North a 3-1 triumph before 9,000 strong at the 2014 Texas League All-Star Game
in North Little Rock. Tommy Shirley, who entered the break with the circuit’s second-best ERA (1.90), bypassed
two base runners in a scoreless second. Delino DeShields, Jr., and Andrew Aplin entered the contest in the sixth,
manning center and right fields, respectively. Both went 0-for-1 at the plate. The South squad managed just four
singles on the night. Arkansas lefty Michael Roth set the tone, twirling two shutout frames to begin the game. Six
pitchers later, Travs closer Cam Bedrosian notched the final out to pick up the save. Matt Duffy, Andrew Robinson
and Preston Tucker did not participate after earning promotions to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Nolan Fontana missed
the TL classic and the final 10 weeks of the season due to injury.

Corpus Christi center fielder George Springer smacked a pair of home runs and drove in three to capture MVP
acclaim as the South Division dispatched the North 6-0 in the 77th Texas League All-Star Game at Arvest Ballpark
in Springdale. Springer, who, along with Jake Buchanan, was promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City following
the game, is the first Hook to homer in the classic. Catcher Rene Garcia picked off a runner at first and threw
out another trying to steal second. Outfielder Domingo Santana was voted onto the South squad but did not
participate due to injury.
Corpus Christi hurlers Buchanan, David Martinez and Mike Foltynewicz each worked a scoreless frame. Neil
Ramirez of Frisco fashioned a perfect first inning to earn the victory. The result marked the first shutout in the TL
All-Star Game since 2006 when the South prevailed 1-0 at historic Ray Winder Field in Little Rock.
