Mired in a 21-game home run drought to open the season, Burgess belted two bombs and drove in eight on May 13 against San Antonio at Whataburger Field. Stassi equaled the offensive output June 26 vs. Springfield. That night sparked a surge which saw Stassi notch 16 home runs and 46 RBIs in 57 games, prompting a late-August promotion to the big leagues. Kyle Blanks of San Antonio and Midland’s Kent Matthes share the record for most RBIs in a game involving the Hooks. Blanks (August 25, 2008) and Matthes (July 26, 2014) are the only Texas Leaguers with nine or more RBIs in a contest since 2000. In the circuit’s 129-year history, 22 men have reached the nine-RBI plateau. Matthes’ exploits against Corpus Christi in 2014 were extraordinary; the former Tulsa Driller hit .303 with eight home runs (three grand slams), 32 RBIs and a 1.003 OPS in 22 games. Matthes batted .214 with seven homers and 28 RBIs over 56 games vs. the remaining six TL clubs. 104
