Homes and Neighbourhoods
We have a strong history of co-operative and mutual working
and we shall carry out a review of the work of the Commission
for Co-operative and Mutual Housing and publish our
findings. We shall also work with West Midlands’ authorities in
developing the offer across the region including ideas around a
‘garden city’ for the Black Country using the values of the late
nineteenth century planners and bringing a twenty-first century
innovative approach to create homes and communities.
Using our track record of developing low carbon homes we
shall continue to research new housing design which creates
sustainable and fuel efficient living.
The Group is also leading work on behalf of the Black Country
Local Enterprise Partnership to develop the virtual ‘Black
Country House’ created from locally sourced, sustainable
materials.
Delivery:
n Enhanced product development including adaptions,
pods and teaching units for example single person
accommodation to meet welfare change challenges
n Externally funded projects such as EnergieSprong to
retrofit – also supporting new local start-up enterprises in
the process delivering new technologies.
