Punohu has Te Arawa and Mataatua tribal affiliations, has a background in education, teaching and lecturing, and holds a Bachelor of Maori Studies. For the past 12 years, Punohu has been involved in the health sector, holding trustee, directorship, coordinator and chairperson positions. Punohu was appointed to the BOPDHB in December 2004 and finished her term in December 2010. Punohu is now the Runanga Representative on the Board. Vervies Punohu McCausland Anna was born and raised in Tauranga and completed her university education at the University of Auckland within the Department of Sport and Exercise Science (BSc and MSc) and then later within the Faculty of Medicine (PhD). Anna is an exercise physiologist and is director of The Centre for Health that specialises in lifestyle management of chronic conditions. Anna holds Research Fellow positions within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Auckland and in the Faculty of Health Sport and Human Performance at the University of Waikato. The majority of her research work is focussed on long term conditions (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer), lifestyle management, clinical exercise physiology and Maori health. Anna Rolleston Ron was elected to the Board in 2010 and appointed by the Minister of Health in 2013 as Deputy Chair. He is also Chair of the Finance Audit and Risk Management committee. Ron is the founder of Stellaris Ltd, a NZQA registered training provider specialising in governance education including the Certificate in Governance (Level 7) and Diploma in Business and Strategy(Level 7). Ron is active in the community with roles that include Chair of the SILC Charitable Trust, trustee of the Tauranga Energy Consumers Trust and Member of the BoP District Council of AA. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, a professional member of the NZ Association of Training and Development, and a Justice of the Peace. His interest is to see that the Health and Disability sector is ‘joined up’ across all populations and Ron Scott covering the spectrum from wellness through primary care and into the hospital service. The objective is to have a healthier population across the region. Judy Turner Judy is serving her second term on the BOPDHB and while not sporting any health practitioner qualifications, has maintained an interest in health issues, ever since serving on the Health Select Committee while a Member of Parliament (2002-2008).. Judy’s working life has many threads to it. She is a primary teacher by training, has been in business, has worked in the charitable sector doing community work and worked for a supported accommodation facility for men with addiction, mental health and offending challenges. She is also currently serving her third term as the Deputy Mayor of Whakatane District Council and is involved in a number of community initiatives that seek to address issues of homelessness, isolation of our aging population and the development of a more strategic approach to ensuring those who live with a disability enjoy the same opportunities to participate and be included in community activities. Judy is married with three adult children and seven grandchildren. 7
