Integrated disAbled Sailing (IdS) Programme
Sailing is an inherent part of our culture that
provides exhilaration and freedom for all. It is
a sport that enables sailors with disabilities to
not only excel in, but to compete on equal terms
against their able-bodied counterparts.
We have always believed here at The Royal
Prince Alfred Yacht Club that sailing should
be accessible to everyone. In 2013 The Club
furthered its commitment to disabled sailing
by formalising a programme called Integrated
disAbled Sailing (IdS).
The intent of IdS was to seek partnership with
other organisations that reach out to those who
could benefit from the freedom and associated
health benefits that sailing offers as well as
extending financial assistance to associated
causes.

The programme provides financial and volunteer
support to integrate sailors with disabilities
into the Club’s regular sailing programme and
provides support for Sailability Crystal Bay
which is based out of the Club’s Crystal Bay
hardstand. In addition to Sailability the Club has
expanded its programme by partnering with
Soldier On, a registered charity dedicated to
supporting service men and women in adjusting
back to civilian life, and takes great pride in
providing sailing services to the men and women
who have served our country. Through the
Club’s friendship with Soldier On the Club also
assists RSL Active, St John of Gods Hospital
and will play a key part of the 2018 Invictus
Games in Sydney in 2018.
