Suffering in the Hands
of a Good God

The Lord is good to all,
and His mercy is over all that He has made.
PSALM 145:9
When God made night and day, He saw that it was good.
When He made the land and sea, He saw that it was good.
When God made the sun and the stars and all of the fruits and
the birds, He saw that what He had spoken into life was good.
But when God created mankind in His image and likeness,
it was then and only then when He saw that everything He
had made was more than just “good”—it was “very good.”
Mankind was the crème de la crème, the finest of all of God’s
creation. In fact, God blessed and commanded mankind to
