A Christmas message from our President

As 2014 draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members for the continued support you have given Cork Boat Club throughout a very successful year.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I wish you the best for season 2015.

Club Improvements

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to conserve the old coastguard station which stands tall over Cork Boat Club overlooking The Lee. Extensive work is being done to make the coastguards station a safe part of the Club which will keep its Birdseye view of the river for many more years to come. Not only are we holding on to an important piece of the clubs history, we are also going to be able to utilise this new space for our ever expanding club. The property has been vacant and deteriorating for over 35 years and there was a real danger of collapse. The walls have been repaired and a new roof is being fitted. CBC will continue to work on this part of the club into the future.

When work to the Coastguard House is completed it is intended to begin the process of planned work to the Clubhouse. This will include new roof protection and additional fire protection to the upstairs and downstairs. The club has been granted €100,000 from the Sports Capital Programme. A requirement of this grant is that the club must provide an additional €15,000 in order to draw down the full grant. Members are asked to support fundraising events to ensure we achieve this amount.
