the frei art cooperative

We want to help independent artists achieve their goals by offering a variety of publishing and promotion services through trade economy and artist cooperation in place of monetary capital.

Why are we doing this?

People need people. People who are trying to create can get lost in the maze of trying to publish their work, which creates a big gap between those who are already successful and those who are just starting out. We want to help close that gap.

This is a brainchild of our passion for establishing and sustaining creative communities.

How do we accomplish this?

Through our goblin hoard! What’s that, you say? It is our hoard of unique and valuable art and services to allow for cooperative trade. We also believe in the power of fundraising. It’s hard to be a self-sustaining artist - kudos to those who have defeated that labyrinth! Promotion and networking take time and energy that most artists don’t have or can’t afford. Not to mention most publishing houses want ownership of artists’ works. While many gargantuan publishing houses pay a sign-on bonus, we replace that with free promotion, networking, layout - services that usually cost money, but instead are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Who are we looking for?

The Frei Art Cooperative may not be for everyone, but certainly those who are looking to expand their indie artistic enterprises. That means tattoo artists, novelists, game designers/creators, visual artists, musicians, bloggers, poets and everyone in between. We also network with grassroots organizations and humanitarian efforts.

What do we do?

We provide space and resources for artists to live as artists on their own terms. Our goblin hoard allows for free exchange so that artists can do what they love without the burden of dollars and cents. Instead of having to focus on networking and finding venues to sell their work and dealing with sneaky snakey agents, we provide those services. We have the ability to edit, format, publish, market, sell and find partnerships for the artists in our cooperative. We are essentially the middle man that you don’t have to pay!
