W
e are quickly heading into
the 2016 election season
(it is understandable if you
thought we already were in it!) when
most of the policy-related energy will
be devoted to the presidential and
congressional races and little (or even
less) work will be done in Washington.
Congress will be out of session for
the last two weeks of July when the
Republicans and Democrats hold their
presidential nominating conventions
and will not come back to Washington
until September 6th. The House and
Senate will then be in Washington
for the month of September before
heading out to campaign in advance of
the November elections.
As you know, not only is the presidency
at stake in the November elections,
but so too is party control of the
Senate. The Democrats believe that
they have a chance to regain control
of the Senate this year because more
Republicans face re-elect
