(1) Every person who contravenes section 11 is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable for the first offence to a fine of not more than $15,000 and for each subsequent offence to a fine of not more than $30,000. Idem, use of titles (2) Every person who is not a holder of a licence and who, (a) uses the title “veterinarian”, “vétérinaire”, or “veterinary surgeon”, “chirurgien vétérinaire” or an abbreviation or variation thereof as an occupational or business designation; or (b) uses a term, title or description that will lead to the belief that the person may engage in the practice of veterinary medicine, Offences and Fines is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable for the first offence to a fine of not more than $5,000 and for each subsequent offence to a fine of not more than $15,000. Idem, publication (3) Every person who contravenes subsection 29 (1) or (3) is guilty of an offence and on conviction is lia ble to a fine of not more than $10,000 and for each subsequent offence to a fine of not more than $20,000. Corporation (4) Where a corporation is convicted of an offence under subsection (1), (2) or (3), the maximum fine that may be imposed is $25,000 on a first conviction and $50,000 on each subsequent conviction and not as provided in subsection (1), (2) or (3). Offence, director, officer, etc., of corporation (5) Where a corporation is convicted of an offence under subsection (1), (2) or (3), (a) each director of the corporation; and (b) each officer, employee or agent of the corporation who was in whole or in part responsible for the conduct of that part of the business of the corporation that gave rise to the offence, is guilty of an offence unless he or she proves, on the balance of probabilities, that he or she took all reasonable care to prevent the commission of the offence. Idem, penalty (6) Every person convicted of an offence under subsection (5) is liable on conviction to a fine of not more than $15,000 on a first conviction and not more than $30,000 on each subsequent conviction. Limitation (7) Proceedings shall not be commenced in respect of an offence under subsection (1), (2), (3) or (5) after two years after the date on which the offence was, or is alleged to have been, committed. Offences re falsification, etc. Falsification of documents 41. (1) Any person who makes or causes to be made a wilful falsification in a matter relating to a register or directory or issues a false licence, certificate of accreditation or document with respect to the issuance of a licence or certificate of accreditation is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not more than $5,000.
