CHANGE
New year projected to bring more
regulations to animal health industry
T injectable wormers because Ivomec
Plus was by far the superior product.
However, we do now carry Dectomax
and Cydectin injectable if you would
prefer to use an injectable in combi-
nation with Valbazen. We also carry
Eprinex and Cydectin pour ons for
a more convenient, but still effective,
de-wormer.
It is hard to believe that we have
gone almost an entire year without
Ivomec Plus. Boehringer Ingellheim
has told us that Ivomec Plus is ex-
pected to be released in the Summer/
Fall of 2019. On the Texas Gulf
Coast, it is crucial to have a worming
protocol for liver flukes and parasites.
So most of you are wondering what
product to use this fall to control liver
flukes and parasites. Currently, Valba-
zen is the only product on the market
that is labelled to control adult liver
flukes. Valbazen is an oral drench
that offers a broad spectrum of par-
asite control, but it has little residual
effect. Therefore, we are encouraging
our customers to use Valbazen in
combination with another pour on
or injectable wormer. In the past,
we have not stocked many other We were recently informed that
there are plenty more regulations
headed our way in 2019. We do not
have any official information from
the state yet, but we have been told
that LA-200, Noromy-
cin 300, Penicillin,
and similar products
will require a drug
authorization from a li-
censed veterinarian starting
January 1, 2019. United Ag does
have a wholesale distributor of
prescription drugs license at
our El Campo location, there-
fore we will be able to con-
tinue to sell those products
— however, the process
will take quite a bit longer
than just grabbing the
medication off the shelf.
You must have a client-pa-
tient relationship with a
licensed veterinarian and
be authorized to purchase
the medications listed above.

he one thing that is a
constant in the animal
health industry is change.
We are constantly seeing
company buyouts, name
changes, product backorders, and
new government regulations. It seems
as though 2017-2018 were some of
the most epic years for change —
including the stop in production of
Ivomec Plus and restricted products
requiring drug authorization from a
veterinarian.

“Change is the law of life and those
who look only to the past or present
are certain to miss the future.” There-
fore, we are trying to embrace the
new changes headed our way and do
the best we can to prepare our pro-

any questions you may have.
