eptember 8, Seventh-day Adventist young people from the middle
Tennessee area attended an Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF)
meeting held in the Student Union ballroom of Middle Tennessee State
University (MTSU). Students gathered around Nelson Silva and Rogelio
Ortiz who were conducting Bible studies.
ACF strives to educate the public on not only the teachings of the Bible,
but also the power of community, health, and the knowledge of the Lord. The
sense of community is what empowers young Adventists.
The bi-weekly ACF gatherings involve sharing of food, prayer, laughter, and
most importantly, bonding of the students attending the meetings. In future
meetings, Ortiz and ACF leaders intend to incorporate dynamic activities into
the curriculum. They are also planning activities outside the campus meetings
including things like hiking, escape room experiences, and more!
Many campus students have inquired about information concerning the
newly founded ACF group. They have learned about ACF through word of
mouth, student organization fairs, or the multiple Adventist churches in the
Middle Tennessee area. I found the ACF group through one of its devoted
members, Diane Rippee of the Murfreesboro Church. It is people like her that
encourage young Christians to form as a family.
At the meeting, ACF leaders put forth a level of acceptance and friendly
conversation that made the group feel comfortable and able to receive the
