BY GAIL McKENZIE Prayer Ministries Director *Pseudonyms Will You or Your Church Take the BPF Challenge? B usiness and Professional Foundation (BPF) offers loans to churches and schools in the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference. These loans are interest-free for the first two years. They also offer grants for approved outreach programs. The loan and grant programs were goals of BPF when it started in 1966 and why it exists today. BPF members have donated $500,000+ that has provided over $3 million dollars of project funding through loans. As the loans are paid, the funds are recirculated. Through the years, over half the churches in the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference have benefited from BPF loans. Between 2009 and 2017, twelve churches and one school received thousands of dollars for approved projects. Several outreach endeavors, television and radio programming, and youth evangelism projects have qualified for $2500 grants. To qualify for a loan, the church must be a BPF member. Membership cost $100 per year. The only other initial charge is a $150 loan fee. Bob Kurzynske, BPF president, and Ervin Brown, BPF treasurer, invited the Ridgetop, Tennessee Church to become a member of BPF by contributing $100 annually, which the church board approved. The officers of BPF are challenging all 97 churches and 13 companies in the conference to join BPF by making an annual $100 donation. These donations would swell the funds available for churches and schools. Individuals may also become members by contributing a minimum of $10. Donations may be sent to the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference, Business and Professional Foundation, c/o Ervin Brown, Treasurer, 728 S. Main St., Springfield, TN 37172.
