14 SPRING 2015 STUDENT PRESIDENT ACHIEVEMENTS Ayrshire College Student Association shortlisted for two NUS Scotland awards Ayrshire College Student Association (ACSA) was shortlisted in two categories at the NUS Scotland Awards 2015 for Student Opportunities and Student Union. ANGELA ALEXANDER, STUDENT PRESIDENT FOR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP, WON THE VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD AT THE EAST AYRSHIRE ACTIVE SCHOOLS AWARDS. Angela was awarded for her volunteer work in the local community which included teaching weekly netball and football coaching classes. Angela also won for the Student Contribution Award at the College Development Network Annual Awards and scooped the College Candidate of the Year award at the SQA Star Awards. The NUS Awards are a celebration of the work in student unions; from officers and staff to inspirational students and unsung heroes. ACSA was shortlisted in the Student Opportunities category for being instrumental to the organisation of many clubs within the College that have been designed to engage with the students and improve their college experience. They were also recognised in the Student Union category for ensuring their activities had a positive impact on students and the community, met the needs of its members and the democratic processes were used to make decisions open and inclusive. Angela Alexander, Student President for Community Partnership at Ayrshire College said “It’s fantastic to see that the work we do alongside the student body is being recognised at a national level and is a great way to celebrate the success of our work over the last year.” Angela has also recently been elected to NUS Scotland Executive Committee!
