AYRSHIRE COMMUNITY GET
ACTIVE THIS YEAR.
Their ‘Get Kilmarnock
Active’ campaign was
designed to inspire and
engage the shoppers of
Kilmarnock town centre to
introduce subtle changes
to their lives, which would
ensure significant health and
environmental improvements
to both themselves and their
community.
The project offered active
travel advice, heritage tours of
the town, free health checks, a
referral scheme to free fitness
classes for children, older adults
and families, dietary tips and
cooking advice.
Over 3,000 shoppers in the
town centre have engaged with
the campaign over the past four
months.
The campaign brought
together local professionals
from the community including
SUSTRANS, East Ayrshire
Vibrant Communities,
NHS Ayrshire & Arran, and
Kilmarnock History Club.
