Supporting COMMUNITIES
Community Placement
for Students
Students from the HNC
Working with Communities
course have been completing
a 300-hour placement with
the Ayrshire Community Trust
(TACT) based in Ardrossan.
Ashley Cook, Dale McCarlie,
Teresa McTaggart and Abbie
Whannel worked with TACT
to create a new community
garden within the grounds
of Eglinton Country Park in
Kilwinning.
Teresa called it a “very
worthwhile project”.
She said “The site is currently
not much more than a large
field but things are slowly
evolving.

“Alongside myself are a small
group of general volunteers
who have been beavering
away creating bays for
different materials, breaking
up pallets so we can reuse
the wood and marking out
where our raised beds and
polytunnels will go.
“We have also been working
in partnership with North
Ayrshire Council’s Criminal
Justice department, who
have been a great help in
collecting materials being
donated and building the
new beds ready for the first
growing season.”
