Developing Ayrshire ’ s Young Workforce

Partnering with Shorterm

A GROUP OF STUDENTS FROM OUR ‘ PERFORMING ENGINEERING OPERATIONS WITH COMPOSITES ’ COURSE ARE TO BENEFIT FROM OUR NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH SHORTERM .
Shorterm is one of the UK ’ s largest technical engineering recruits who provides staff to British Airways in Scotland , England and Wales .
Shorterm has guaranteed to interview every student who passes the 18 week course for ongoing fixedterm assignments with British Airways ’ Heavy Maintenance facility at Glasgow International Airport .
The link-up with Shorterm is a completely new way for students to enter the aviation and aerospace industry .
SOME OF OUR AYRSHIRE CONNECTS MEMBERS VISITED THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW TO MEET STUDENTS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF FEMENG , THE FEMALE ENGINEERING SOCIETY .
Ayrshire Connects is a mentoring network for female STEM ( science , technology , engineering and maths ) and construction students across the College .
The group heard from FemEng members on what it ’ s like to study engineering at university .
Our members had a tour of the Nanofabrication Centre and Biomedical Engineering department .
This visit provided our students with an opportunity to gain an insight into a range of degree courses at university . We hope it helped them make a decision about their next steps to university .
