PUPILS AT LOUDOUN ACADEMY ARE BENEFITING FROM A REAL-LIFE LEARNING CAFÉ ON SCHOOL PREMISES – HELPING PREPARE THEM FOR THE WORLD OF WORK IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY .
The Loudoun Academy Hospitality Suite is a collaboration between the College , East Ayrshire Council , Loudoun Academy and Buzzworks Holdings to help young people learn skills needed in the workplace by prospective employers .
Pupils on the school-college course in Professional Cookery are learning how to become baristas , and how to prepare and serve food - as they work towards an NC qualification .
Pupils select a school-college course during their option choices and study it as part of their school timetable .
School-college courses are part of the Developing the Young Workforce initiative to reduce youth unemployment . Pupils are able to experience college life along with work-relevant educational experiences , to enable them to make informed and ambitious choices about jobs and careers .
