CHARACTER JOINERY

As well as being a campus built FOR the local community , large parts of our new Kilmarnock Campus have been built BY the local community .

The team at Kilmarnock ’ s Character Joinery was responsible for the bespoke joinery aspects of the campus - which included all of the booth seating in Salt & Barrel and the Refectory .
The teaching walls and the reception desks in the main atrium and library were also manufactured by the Kilmarnock company .
The most talked-about project that the team worked on is the unique seating pods on the third level of the campus - which were designed by Cumnock Academy students .
Kelvin Murray , Director at Character Joinery , told us about his company ’ s involvement with our new Kilmarnock Campus .

“ It was great for myself and the team to see the building rise from the ashes through to the official opening by Scotland ’ s First Minister .
“ We were also asked if we could get involved in a secondary school competition - in partnership with architects Keppie Design - where students designed seating pods to be used by Ayrshire College students .
