TECH CORNER - IPHONE 7 REVIEW

BY SUSANNA ROBERTSON
The smart phone market is constantly evolving with new phones hitting the market everyday . Unless you have been under a rock this past decade , you will know the number one selling smart phone is the Apple iPhone . Well it ’ s that time of year again and Apple just released both the iPhone 7 , and the iPhone 7 Plus . Pre-orders skyrocketed and people camped out in tents for days before the phones hit store shelves last month .
So now you have that dreaded question to ask yourself , “ Should I upgrade ?” If you own an older smart phone or an iPhone 5 or earlier model , this upgrade really does make sense . The performance , reliability , and hardware difference from older models is huge . But for those of us that are already using the iPhone 6 or 6s , we have to think about what the benefits and the disadvantages to an upgrade may be . So , why do we , as consumers , feel the need to lessen our pockets and upgrade ? Lets look at what ’ s different with the iPhone 7 :
Battery Life . With this upgrade comes the longest battery life Apple has ever provided . Giving you an extra 2 hours compared to the iPhone 6 or 6s and up to 3 times that on older models .
Power . We ’ ve also been told we can expect results two times faster than the previous iPhone 6 and 6s models . With the new A10 processor , everything is faster and as a culture , speed is everything .
Storage . With most of us using our phones professionally and personally , we find ourselves running out of storage much faster . A solution to this problem is that the minimum size an iPhone is now manufactured at is 32GB instead of the 16GB of older models . Thats double the storage , and they also now offer a 256GB model , their largest ever .
Camera Quality . Since most of us use our smart phones as our cameras , the quality we ’ ll be getting is a huge difference . This time around , we get an increase in mega pixels for the front facing camera , the install of the two back cameras for the 7 Plus model , the color accuracy greatly improving , an LED flash , and the benefit of optical stabilization and zoom quality .
Water and Shock Resistant . No longer do we have the fear of dropping our phone in water . With the new water-resistant rating , it can be submerged into 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes .
Design . Though the design is almost identical to previous models , they repositioned the antenna lines to create a sleek look across the top and bottom . This design is now featured in two new colors : jet black and matte black . The jet black sold out quickly due to it ’ s sleek , seamless look .
So when thinking about upgrading , think about the value the phone could bring to you . With its new and improved storage and battery life , will you be able to increase your out of office meetings and picture inventory for every listing ? With an increase of camera quality and speaker enhancement , would you capture more engaging photographs and make an open house more inviting ? Would you stop worrying about dropping your phone in water and the damage costs ? Or will you simply feel “ top of the line ” from the design ? Whatever options you ’ re weighing , always think what value this product will provide to you , AND your clients .
MLS UPDATE - CLAREITY DASHBOARD
After the successful launch of the Clareity Dashboard , we listened to the feedback of our members . What we heard more than anything else was that with the new system it took several more clicks to get to the login screen then it used to and even though that is only a few extra seconds , when you as Realtors ® do it everyday that time adds up and becomes frustrating . So we are pleased to announce we now have a direct URL . Simply go to dashboardmls . com and you are taken immediately to the login page . We will also be releasing some other exciting updates in the near future so stay tuned to the association .
