What will I learn?

This course will enable you to:

- Define the principles of Assessment for Learning in the context of international education

- Demonstrate how Assessment for Learning is a highly effective approach for motivating and engaging students more fully in their learning

- Reflect on the effectiveness of your own teaching

- Interpret Assessment for Learning within your role as an NAE educator

- Plan how you will apply what you have learned to your practice.

The course is broken up into six topics, which you can complete at your own pace.

Topic 1: Defining Assessment for Learning for NAE

Topic 2: The power of Assessment for Learning

Topic 3: How Assessment for Learning fits with our Be Ambitious philosophy

Topic 4: Assessment for Learning processes and approaches

Topic 5: Assessment for Learning in the classroom

Topic 6: Conclusion and next steps

I was very impressed with the course. I valued the fact that there was an accessible combination of theory and useful prompts for classroom practice. It was useful to reflect on elements of a teacher's practice that often become 'routine' and how it is necessary to constantly consider how all elements of my practice contribute to student learning.”

Ben Quiligotti, English and TOK Specialist, British International School of Chicago, South Loop

How much time does the course take to complete?

Learners typically take up to three hours to complete the course. Expect to spend additional time on the reflection activities in Topic 5.

“The reflection activities and questions are valuable and should be revisited throughout the academic year. This course provided ideas and structures for me to use with collaborative teams in my administrator role.”

Bissy Groom, Deputy Head of Primary and PYP Co-ordinator, Northbridge International School, Cambodia

"Take your time to understand the course. I had to go back a few times to re-read some topics, no rush, it's all about understanding it rather than finishing it off."

Kavitraa Paramaguru, Swim Coach, British International School of Kuala Lumpur
