Paul Devlin said, “We wanted
to give something back to the
community. Sponsoring all
the cars in the College motor
vehicle workshop seemed the
best way for us to get involved.
We also sponsor the Excellence
Awards which recognise the
achievement of students who
have been successful on their
courses.”
David Lancaster, curriculum
manager for motor vehicle,
said “Barry Devlin Services live
up to their motto of Actions
Speak Louder Than Words as
they offer tremendous support
by providing resources for
students. This contributes to
their motivation, knowledge
and skills as they work towards
a career in the motor industry.
One of our biggest challenges
is to keep up with technology.
Whatever we need, Paul
sources this for us, enabling
students to have hands-on
experience. This really makes
a difference to the students’
learning experience.”
During a recent tour of our
workshop, Paul agreed to
take some students to their
depot for work experience to
see another side of the motor
vehicle industry.
He has also arranged for one
of his trucks to come to the
College so the students can
find out more about heavy
good vehicles.
Paul said “I am really impressed
with the standard of resources
and equipment in the College.
I’ve seen equipment for
laser tracking, break testing,
diagnostics, gear box systems,
tyre machines and presses. It is
really impressive and is typical
of what you will find in a high
quality garage. The students
are receiving a great learning
experience here. It’s great to
see how our contribution is
enhancing this.”
As well as working in
partnership with Ayrshire
College, Paul supplies the Fire
Service and Police with vehicles
for accident recovery training
and firearms training.
