Developing the Young Workforce
The Prince’s Trust Celebrations
Three College Prince’s Trust teams came together at
the Ardeer Youth and Community Centre in Stevenson
to celebrate the successful completion of their 12-week
programmes.
Teams 140, 141 and 142, based at Kilmarnock, Ayr and
Kilwinning respectively, came together at the end of the
programme to share their Prince’s Trust experiences in a
presentation to invited guests, friends and families. They
also picked up awards at the event for their commitment
to the programme.
A number of the students will now progress onto fulltime courses at the College. Others gained employment
after successful work placements that were completed
while on the Prince’s Trust course.
During the programme, each team took part in an
action-packed residential week and got involved in a
community project of their choice. Just after the midway
point of the programme they embarked on a two week
work experience placement.
After that, a week was spent preparing students for
their next steps – helping them to write their CVs and
apply for college courses.
Kelsey Maloney said,
“I joined the Prince’s
Trust to build my
confidence back up
and to help tackle my
anxiety. Along the way
I have developed some
really good friendships,
I’m going to miss the
team and hope we can
meet up again in the
future.”
