Keeping pace with change
result of Edinburgh’s
growing popularity,
landmark venue The
Hub has launched its
corporate packages
for 2018 with a renewed focus on
luxury dining and best in service.
Close to Edinburgh Castle and
with the spectacular modern
backdrop within a historic setting,
The Hub is an ideal location for
corporate and gro up events. The
new packages include options for
gala dinners, product launches,
meetings, exhibitions and events.
The Hub, at the top of the historic
Royal Mile is one of Edinburgh’s
most dramatic venues.
The Grade A Listed building is
renowned for its integration of
contemporary design and facilities
within classical Victorian
architecture. It has a richly
decorated Main Hall, elegant
Dunard Library and vibrant Cafe
Hub which are ideal for all manner
of events.
Aileen Crawford, head
conventions, Glasgow
Convention Bureau, notes that
change has also swept across
Glasgow. So what is new?
The biggest change is at the SEC as
well as the accompanying hotels;
there’s now 500 bedrooms on
campus. The Hydro in particular is a
multi-purpose venue that has been
at the centre of that success, not
just as a music venue, but as a
conference destination, too. The
infrastructure has improved greatly,
and as such we have a target of
2,500 hotel rooms on site by 2023.
There are now also more direct
flights than there has ever been.
The sector is worth £140m to the
city annually, and on average we
see about 500 conferences a year.
We accumulate statistics for ICCA,
and these statistics show that we
are the second most popular
destination in the UK.

There is plenty of
appeal in taking an
event to Scotland,
and a favourite city
of mine is Edinburgh.
The Mansfield
Traquair boosts
stunning
architecture, perfect
for evening events.
Similarly, the
Assembly Rooms
Edinburgh, a
centrally located
delight. In terms of
conference centres,
there is the
Edinburgh
International
Conference Centre,
also conveniently
located. Exploring
the city there is
Edinburgh Castle and
Edinburgh Zoo, both
major attractions
that are ideal for
teambuilding.
It’s fairly accessible
to the rest of the UK,
however for London
and Midland based
event teams it can
provide time and
budget challenges,
particularly when
travelling with
production tech and
tools! Nevertheless,
the Scottish capital
hosts plenty of
hidden gems making
it an appealing host
for any corporate
event.
