Make it Edinburgh
Scotland’s capital set to promote city as meeting
destination through six key sectors
ver the last 10 years,
Edinburgh has
consolidated its
position as one of
the top meeting
destinations in the world.
The city has the formula to host
memorable events and now the city
is further showcasing its expertise in
a new campaign - Make it Edinburgh.
Aimed at all meeting, events and
incentive travel planners in the UK,
Make it Edinburgh is a new digital
marketing campaign set to showcase
the Scottish capital’s business
tourism strengths through its centres
of excellence. For the first time,
Edinburgh will home in on six key
areas of expertise, focused on
technology, life sciences, creative
industries, food and drink, renewable
energy and financial services. Events
within these industries will benefit
from the knowledge, innovation and
leadership the city has to offer within
these core sectors.
With six of the city’s most influential
business tourism organisations
coming together, Make it Edinburgh
presents a cohesive voice for the
industry. Partners delivering the
campaign include: Convention
Edinburgh; Edinburgh Hotel
Association; Edinburgh Airport;
Edinburgh International Conference
Centre; Royal College of Surgeons
and Edinburgh Tourism Action Group.
Amanda Ferguson, head of
business tourism at Convention
Edinburgh said: “Make it Edinburgh
is a great opportunity for the city to
promote its business tourism
offering and is the first time the city
has facilitated a joined up approach.

We want to showcase Edinburgh as a
hotspot for innovation, leadership
and knowledge exchange, and Make
it Edinburgh will give us the platform
to do this. The six partners have a
powerful collective voice that will
enable us to raise awareness of
Edinburgh’s world leading centres of
excellence and the real benefits of
hosting an event in our city.”
The campaign will dovetail within a
wider business tourism message for
Scotland, after VisitScotland
announced its Legends campaign
which aims to transform how
Scotland is promoted as a
world-leading conference
destination. Sitting alongside the
national campaign, Make it
Edinburgh will showcase what’s on
offer within Edinburgh on a more
detailed level through social media.
