Soyuz lands in Bradford
CN boldy goes to Bradford and finds a small piece of space history providing a giant
leap for event organisers looking for that ‘out of this world’ experience.

space aboard the
Russian Soyuz
spacecraft. That world-famous
craft has now landed at the
National Science and Media
Museum in Bradford where it is
the star attraction of the The
National Tour of Tim Peake’s
Spacecraft and Space Descent VR
- a partnership between the
Science Museum Group and
Samsung.
The Soyuz TMA-19M capsule has
travelled outside London for the
first time since it was acquired by
the Science Museum Group in
2016 and is being displayed in the
entrance foyer of the National
Science and Media Museum until

Science and
Media Museum in
Bradford, part of

has a £1.8m
Wonderlab gallery
with availability for
corporate and
private events for
up to 150 guests
who can
experience an
anti-gravity mirror
and other ‘space
related’ items.

The Soyuz spacecraft has been
enhanced by Space Descent VR
– a unique virtual reality adventure
using Samsung Gear VR
technology, which places visitors
right at the heart of Tim Peake’s
journey as they experience the
high-speed descent to Earth from
the International Space Station.
Capitalising on the demand for
more immersive, once-in-a-lifetime
event experiences, clients hiring
the museum’s interactive galleries,
such as Wonderlab and the Games
Lounge for drinks receptions, will
be able to combine this with photo
opportunities around the capsule
and exclusive use of the virtual
reality experience as part of their
event.

As part of the national tour, the
capsule will visit a total of eight
venues across the UK until May
2019, including the National
Railway Museum’s in Shildon and
York and the Museum of Science
and Industry in Manchester.
