ariety is key to the
success of Well Met, the
conferencing office of
Leeds Beckett University,
as it offers a choice of campus and
city centre venues with their own
individual style and flexible
conference space.
It was this variety and flexibility
that was recognised at CN’s
Academic Venue Awards in 2018, as
Cloth Hall Court won Best In-house
Technology, and Well Met came away
with Best Non-Residential Venue.
Clare Vidler, the venue’s
conference manager, explains:
“Because we have such a varied
portfolio, we have a wide variety of
clients and get involved in a huge
range of events. Last summer alone,
we hosted two summer schools,
facilitated the 33rd annual
Associated British Choral Directors
Convention and an international
conference for Knee surgeons.
“There are some natural sectors
where our academic credentials
make us an easy association to
make, such as NHS and health
sector related conferencing. Our city
centre location for Cloth Hall Court
and Rose Bowl City Campus allow us
to work closely with the business
sector, teaching and education.
“We’re not limited to these sectors
however, as we hosted the national
One Dance UK conference at
Headingley Campus in November. It
was the first time the conference was
held outside of London and
delegates had the opportunity to
start each day with a dance warm
up. I’m proud of the conference team
who are are really focussed on
attention to detail and getting it right
first time for every client, so a
request for a spring floor from a
dance captain didn’t present a
problem for them.”
Cloth Hall Court is the dedicated
conference facility that has space for
10 to 300 delegates at a time
following a £4.5m refurbishment. A
two-minute walk from Leeds Train
Station, this fresh contemporary
space, boats a range of facilities,
including superfast Wi-Fi,
screen-sharing technology,
state-of-the-art high-resolution data
projectors and highly sought-after
on-site VIP parking in Leeds City
Centre.
