8 News Capita joins CCS Capita Travel and Events has been awarded a position on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) RM6016 Commercial Agreement for ‘Public Sector Travel and Venue Solutions’. Capita Travel and Events is one of three suppliers to be awarded a place on ‘Solution 4’ of the Agreement. The new agreement is designed to provide a quick route to market to reduce procurement process costs for eligible customers. It enables spend across all customers to be aggregated to achieve economies of scale, commercial benefits, improved efficiencies and savings. mia numbers up The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has reported “another year of extraordinary progression”, with membership growing to date by 27.5%. The association is also predicting a 55% growth by the summer. A report by chair Mark Chambers, read out by honorary secretary Nick Milne at the mia’s 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM), said: “The value of the mia membership offer is clearly appreciated and reaping rewards including AIM, which continues to set accredited venues apart.” Grants available The Incredible Impacts Programme, developed by the BestCities Global Alliance and ICCA, is again looking for associations to share examples of how they are leaving long-term legacies. With three grants of US$7,500 available, entrants have the opportunity to be recognised for their innovative work while securing funds that can be used towards future legacy projects. She means business at IMEX Speakers from the UN, European Astronaut Centre and UBS are among the list of inspirational women down to speak at She Means Business, which takes place as part of EduMonday at IMEX in Frankfurt on 14 May. The speakers are inspirational women from diverse backgrounds and sectors. The day starts with ‘Women in space’, where major Nicola Baumann, one of Germany’s only three female Eurofighter pilots, and Laura Winterling, a former astronaut instructor and CEO of Space Time Concepts GmbH, will be delivering the keynote. Carina Bauer (pictured), CEO of IMEX Group, comments: “She Means Business has come at a crucial juncture in society. The next step now is to decide how to move forward, and She Means Business will provide a platform for forward-thinking women – and men – to come together and take action.” MSDUK to Vox The Vox conference centre, part of the NEC complex, has announced that MSDUK will host its annual conference and awards at the Birmingham venue in September 2018. MSDUK is a non-profit membership organisation driving inclusive procurement. The event is designed to facilitate networking and growth opportunities for ethnic minority businesses. The two-day event is expected to attract more than 700 delegates. ACC Liverpool turns 10 ACC Liverpool is celebrating 10 years since it opened its doors. It has hosted more than 1,000 conferences in that time, starting with the Liberal Democrats spring conference. ACC Liverpool has welcomed 850,000 conference delegates since opening and the campus, home to BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena Liverpool and Exhibition Centre Liverpool, has generated £1.45bn in economic benefit for the city region. Upcoming international congresses include Uni Global Union World Congress and Health Systems Research.
