He is very thankful for our presence in the center. It is very important for the kids to get exposure outside of their village and the library needs support

We grew close with these inspiring role models and wanted to know them a little better. After conducting interviews, we pulled some of the most interesting bits of information .

Director - Sustainability & Education Center

His Mission -

Provide educational opportunities to people living in the villages.

Started at the library in 2007 because he liked the place and the activities and is very concerned about conservation.

Favorite thing about the Center -

Helping kids learn music.

Why music? - Learning an instrument builds character, cognitive skills, offers opportunities and jobs, and can be used for enjoyment.

What he’s proud of? -

Immensely proud of student achievements.

Why the Music Program? -

Music is not common in the villages and local culture.

There is not a lot of exposure to the arts in the villages

This was a challenge for him. Sometimes his job is a challenge for him because of the language barrier even though he does speak english some of the visitors speak other languages.

Speaks good english and spanish

From a small village

Fernando's dog, Rex, made everyone's trip a little brighter with every encounter. He helped calm our animal withdrawals! He was always looking for some love.
