During the speech, people in the audience begin to heckle this person and start throwing food at them. How much empathy do you have for this person?” Scenario 1b: “Now, instead of a politician you do not agree with, think of a political leader for whom you have great admiration. Imagine them being in this same situation being heckled. Now where do you stand on the empathy line?” Scenario 2a: “You have just found out that a young child is being bullied at school. How much empathy do you have for the child being bullied?” Scenario 2b: “How much empathy do you have for the bully?” Scenario 2c: “You just found out the bully is a teacher. Now how much empathy do you have for the bully?” Scenario 2d: “You just found out that the teacher has won the best teacher award at this school for each of the past three years, but his wife was diagnosed with late stage cancer six months ago and has been unsuccessfully undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, which his insurance will not fully cover.
