At the time, Audrey’s father was a ranch-hand, and the family lived in a sod house at the time of her birth. Growing up, Audrey was the middle child of her family. Sadly, Audrey is the only surviving member of her family. Audrey’s father was born Sioux City, Iowa, and her mother was born in Lincoln, Neb. At a young age, Audrey’s parents separated and she and her siblings were raised by her grandparents, James and Inez Wagner. Audrey is the only surviving member of her family. After being very ill, her younger brother passed away at the age of 23 and her older sister passed away at the age of 97. Audrey suffered another loss in 2013, when her son, Roger Schreiber, passed away at the age of 77. According to Audrey, her ancestry can be traced back to the Whitney bloodline from England and the Sahlbom bloodline from Sweden. She has been married twice, first to Otto Schreiber, of the famous Schwinn Bicycle family and then to Robert Rhoad. Robert worked for Lockheed Aircraft famous for the P-38 Lighting bi-tail airplane. Thank you, Audrey, for sharing your story and for being Community Springs Healthcare Facility’s Resident of the Month for May 2015!
