Meet our
Resident of the Month
Lois Lowrey was born June 6, 1953
in Kansas City, Mo., to Woodrow and
Shirley Spillars. Growing up, Lois spent
her childhood in the Kansas City area.
She attended school in Lee's Summit
until her junior year, when her parents
purchased a farm in Schell City, Mo.
After graduating from high school,
Lois began working at the state Hospital
in Nevada, Mo. While working there, she
met Willis A. Lowrey. The couple were married in 1973 at her parents’ home in
Schell City, surrounded by friends and family. The couple lived on a farm just
outside of El Dorado Springs, but continued to work at the hospital. In 1976,
the couple was blessed with their son, Shannon. After he was born, Lois decided
to stay home and raise her son.
Lois has always taken great joy in caring for others. While raising her son,
she also cared for her parents. In 1988, when her mother unfortunately passed
away, Lois decided to relocate to Harrisonville, Mo. While living there she
worked part-time, at various convenient stores, until 2000 when her health
would no longer allow her to work.
Lois has numerous hobbies, but her favorites include crocheting afghans,
reading and watching movies. “My life is so full and I am so glad that I chose
to make Community Springs my home,” Lois says with a smile. “I have made
many friends and enjoy all the activities.” Thank you Lois for being Resident
of the Month at Community Springs Healthcare Facility.
