Meet our
Resident of the Month
Norma Collins was the second child of
Lewis and Grace Ogle, born on May 5.
Norma was born and raised in Vernon
County, Mo. Norma’s father was the local
milkman. Every day, he would go to local
farms and collect the milk and deliver it to
Kraft Milk Co. in Nevada. He also worked
as a mechanic and farmer, while Grace,
Norma’s mother, worked at Sharps Clothing Store.
Norma attended school in Dedrick until eighth grade. At the start of her
Freshman year, she began attending the El Dorado R-2 School until her
graduation in 1947.
Shortly after graduation, Norma married Donald Collins, the “Love of
her Life.” The couple were blessed with two sons: Kenneth and Denis.
Norma has since been blessed with three grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren and one great–great grandchild.
Norma worked as a homemaker. Shortly after her son Denis passed
away, Norma took a job at the Nevada Hotel. She worked there for 13
years until her retirement.
After their retirement, Norma and Donald spent many weekends camping
at Stockton Lake. After 33 years of marriage, sadly Donald passed away.
Norma continued to live in the family home until July 2015, before becoming
part of the Community Springs Family. Thank You Norma for being the
Resident of the Month and sharing your story with us.
