Robert (Bob) Ayers was born to Chester and Reava Ayres
Sept. 8, 1941, in Pleasanton, Kansas. He was born in the family
home, and has two brothers and two sisters. Bob’s dad owned a
farm, approximately 160 acres, and planted corn and wheat. The
family helped take care of the cows, hogs and chickens. Bob
learned how to drive tractors, combines and any other equipment
that was required to take care of the farm.
Bob attended all twelve years of school at Mound City, Kansas.
He enjoyed being a member of many different sports teams
throughout high school and became a running back for the football
team in his senior year. He graduated high school in 1952.
At a young age, he began truck driving for Interstate Distribu-
tors, located in Washington and traveled throughout the states until
1981. He then moved to El Dorado Springs and married his wife
of 22 years, Vickie. Bob and Vickie began team driving from Los
Angeles to Chicago and to New York City. Bob enjoys traveling,
fishing, hunting and of course, sports. He has six children, three
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
At Community Springs Bob participates in bingo, movies and
special occasions. He and Vickie
participated in our February
“Date Night” event.
Thank you Bob for sharing your story
and being our resident of the month.
