Industrial & Commercial

There is a sufficient quantity of commercial, industrial and agricultural zoned land available in the Cochrane area. The Town of Cochrane itself lays claim to approximately 60 acres of industrial, as well as commercially zoned land that is readily developable. Lot prices range depending on the level of service infrastructure available per site.

In addition to the land owned by the town, there are a number of privately owned properties available for purchase throughout the community. Of note, local builder and developer CGV Developments, has recently established a 23 lot business park situated along GĂ©nier Road, providing to the Trans Canada Highway.

The following provides a brief summary of each regional key infrastructure provider.

Power

Northern Ontario Wires Inc. (NOW) is a local distribution company regulated by the Ontario Energy Board, which provides power to Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, and Kapuskasing. Northern Ontario Wires procures energy for customers that decide not to sign a contract with a retailer and transfers the cost of power to the customer without profit or mark up, thus resulting in a savings of up to 20% percent compared to Ontario hydro rates.
