Business Partner Eric Lawson Scott Paint Company Business Partner It was a year ago that you, the members of CAI West Florida, welcomed me as your new Presi- dent. At the time, I can honestly say I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Over the following year I have truly learned what it means to be the President of any association. I have a newfound respect for all of our HL’s (Home Leaders) and what they get themselves into and how difficult, and at the same time, how rewarding this position really is. I have not been your most eloquent or vocal president, but I would like to think that over the past year I have made a difference. This is an achievement I could not have managed without the incredible support and dedication of this chapter’s Board of Directors and CAI staff. I’m sure you have all heard me kid about my aspirations to become a past president. All kidding aside, I could not have achieved anything, nor could I be as proud as I am, of the chapter’s achievements without the help of the CAI staff. With Karin’s help, I have become a better leader. With her guidance I was able to serve you better. Quite honestly, without Kris’s help you wouldn’t be reading this at all. While Diana was on staff, her jovial outlook on membership made the job easy. And, since their arrival, Scott & Kayla’s enthusiasm has energized me toward the end of my term as president. Now, as for my Board of Directors . . . I can honestly say that every one of them stepped up and put their full efforts into helping me make this year into what I feel has been one of the best in CAI’s history. There have been long board meetings and there have been short ones, but all of them have been substantive and productive. No president could have asked for a better Board of Directors. Our president-elect, Duff Smiley, has done nothing but be overly-enthusiastic about taking over where I leave off. I wish him well and pledge my wholehearted support and assistance in anything that comes his way next year. And finally, a big thank you to the members at large for everything you have done to help me make this the largest and without a doubt the best chapter of CAI in Florida. When I first ran for the board, I had a simple slogan; “Vote for Me.” The second time I ran I said “Please Vote for Me.” The third time I ran I said, “Thank you for Voting for Me.” Now that it’s over, I would like to say it has been an honor, a pleasure and a privilege being your president. Thank you all for your support over the past year. Lee Lee Howell WWW.CAIWESTFLORIDA.ORG community • December 2017 7
