Community Insider Summer 2018 - Page 2

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Greetings CAI-San Diego! The year is almost half over, and we have experienced many great moments. It is my pleasure to mention a few in this month’s President’s Message. Patrick Prendiville started Prendiville Insurance Agen- cy in 1988 after graduating from the University of Cal- ifornia, Santa Barbara. Mr. Prendiville has earned the “Community Insurance and Risk Management Specialist (CIRMS)” designation from Community Associations In- stitute (CAI). Over the years, Patrick has been actively in- volved in multiple chapters of CAI, including serving as President of the Orange County Chapter. Patrick has written numerous articles for CAI magazines and present- ed multiple educational pro- grams for multiple chapters. Prendiville Insurance Agency is a seven-time member of the prestigious Farmers In- surance President’s Council. In 2016, Prendiville Insurance Agency was nationally rec- ognized as the Farmers In- surance Commercial Agency of the year. A sizable contingency of CAI San Diego joined other CAI Chapters for the Annual Legislative Support Day, benefiting the California Legislative Action Committee (CLAC). We were there to meet our local legislatures and discuss various pending legislative items, some of which may be detrimental to our industry. While there, CAI San Diego was honored with, “Top Chapter Supporter,” which goes to the top financial contributor for the past year. Making this award all the better is the realization that we went from last place to first place in just one year, largely due to people like you, who have committed to our buck- a-door program, as well as our general fundraising efforts. We were also delighted to cheer for Patrick Morrissey of Yacht Club Condominiums for his nomination as CLAC Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations to Patrick! We have had three great educational courses in recent months. From dealing with developer transitions and debt collection to reserve studies and asphalt, we had great attendance and overwhelmingly positive reviews at each. Our dynamic Education Services Committee is behind these Leadership Programs and our unsung heroes as the Program Coordinators: Rebecca McDonald of Walters Management Company, Melissa Brown of Avalon Management Company, Inc., Dawn Braddy of FirstService Residential, Dmitriy Todorov of Bald Eagle Security Services, Inc., Laurie Poole of Adams Stirling APC, Sue McClintic of Epsten Grinnell & Howell, APC, Susan Adams of BDS General Contractors, Rick Cremin of Pilot Property Management, and Community Outreach Chair, Amber Korody from Walters Management Company! Nothing happens without our coordinators and we appreciate their efforts. Look ahead for some more outstanding educational opportunities this year. The Membership and Retention Committee has been busy spreading the word that the dues for all Community Association Volunteer Leaders have been cut. Beginning this year, an entire Board can join for $250.00. That’s over half off from the prior rate structure! Partly because of this, our membership is swelling, and we expect the trend to continue. If you’re looking for ways to become more involved, please contact the CAI San Diego office for some guidance on the various ways. From joining a committee, attending a luncheon, morning leadership program, or social event, there are opportunities for everyone and we welcome your involvement. Thank you, and I would love to hear from you! You can see me at most events or email me at Patrick@ Thank You! 2 | SAN DIEGO COMMUNITY INSIDER SUMMER 2018
