Community Insider Spring 2018 - Page 4

THE INSIDER “LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED” W By Richard Ybarra inter is almost over in San Diego! If I hadn’t had to put on a jacket for three days in a row it may have passed me by unnoticed. Like most San Diego natives, I seldom tire of hearing, especially from visitors and transplants, how fortunate we all are to live here in this blessed region of California and the world. As we begin another year, it is good to reflect on accomplishments and goals, as well as to offer thanks and gratitude for the people who have come and gone in our lives. Everyone has something to offer. It’s up to us to see it and to bring our “A” game of life and community spirit with us, every single day. Wishing you a great 2018 in life and business! CAI San Diego enjoyed a good number of successes this year. Credit goes directly to our Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Executive Team members Reagan Espino and Alexa Mitchell. We are thankful for Laurie Poole’s 2017 leadership and looking forward to working with 2018 CAI San Diego President, Patrick Prendiville and this year’s Board of Directors. Recent events where 100s of CAI members celebrated included the Holiday Toast Trade Show at the Hilton Resort on Mission Bay and the Awards & Gala in January at the Coronado Marriott Resort. Congratulations to all our deserving nominees and awardees. You are all winners! 4 | SAN DIEGO COMMUNITY INSIDER SPRING 2018 With good winds at our backs, 2018 promises to be another year of informative writing and quality educational programs from the Publications and Education Committees, whose efforts contribute to keeping us visible and financially solvent. Speaking of which, 2017 brought CAI San Diego “back to the black” financially. Thanks to advertisers herein, business event sponsors and event attendees! February’s Reverse Trade Show was SOLD OUT, and business partners enjoyed interviewing with 23 management companies on this lively day at the Four Points by Sheraton San Diego! As the premiere organization providing leadership, advocacy and education for the community association industry, CAI San Diego has seen a surge in new memberships from HOA Leaders, greater participation from property management professionals and super support from the top business service providers in our region. Richard Ybarra, a San Diego native, attended St. Augustine High, Southwestern College, Chapman University and earned a graduate degree from Harvard University. Richard has been CAI San Diego Executive Director since 2015. He brings an extensive background in Business, nonprofits, community building, public policy, and organizational leadership. His passion is working with people to get things done, promoting teamwork, coaching and reaching goals. Along with the scheduled education programs, we will also champion the networking opportunities created at our Special events. Mark your calendar for June 1 Wine Night, July 13th Tiki Party, August Day at the Races and an already near SOLD OUT Annual Golf Tournament on October 5th. Dmitriy Todorov, Bald Eagle Security Services, Inc., Gala Title sponsor, opened our Awards celebration with these words, “Let’s get this party started!” I would add, “CAI San Diego is on fire, so let’s stay hot from winter to fall.” WWW.CAI-SD.ORG | 5
