Visit MN History : Historic Fort Snelling NO ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT Community Bridge is excited to launch this series of historical tours to many popular and some not so well known , places where history happened . The first tour will be to Historic Fort Snelling . This walking / wheel chair accessible tour explores this restored 1820 ’ s fort - once the farthest outpost of the U . S . in the homeland of the Dakota Indians . Interact with history performers , watch frontier skills demos , tour barracks , sutler store & hospital and hear the daily firing of the cannon . The bus will leave from and return to Gladstone . Please note there will be no building access . Meet Kathy Ader outside the Manton St . entrance . Bus leaves promptly at 9:30 AM and returns at approximately 12:30 PM . Dress for the weather as this tour will run rain or shine .
