ACCOUNTABILITY Dedicated to Hosting More Civic Center Events The Civic Center increased the number of days events were held by 18.9 percent and is dedicated to having even more events in the coming year. In a year-to-year comparison, the Civic Center’s revenue is up 18.8 percent, from $961,797 to $1,142,704. While operating expenses (after deducting deferred maintenance and capital improvements) are down 8.7 percent, from $2,722,712 to $2,485,071. Therefore, the Civic Center is currently covering 46 percent of expenses with revenue as opposed to 35.3 percent as of the same time last year. The goal is to achieve 50 percent as soon as possible. Puerto Rican Day Festival For continued success, Parks & Recreation Department is starting the path to CAPRA Accreditation, which has 151 standards that provide an effective and credible means of evaluating a park and recreation agency’s overall system. The Parks & Recreation Department is proud to facilitate a variety of special events that residents look forward to year round.
