Strategic Plan Road Map
The County Board adopts a strategic plan that is used to help guide the future of
the County, and influence budget and policy decisions.
In 2008, the Lake County Board engaged
the public in its strategic planning process
for the first time, holding six community
forums. The Board used the input to help
develop its mission, vision, values, and five
strategic goals that are reflected in its plan.
The Board obtained community input
again in 2012 and 2016 and used that
input to update the plan.
The plan includes
specific goals,
strategies, and
actions.
The County continually
tracks and evaluates
progress using
performance metrics to
drive strategic
decision-making.
Every two years,
the County Board
reviews and
updates its
strategic plan.
Each goal has a steering committee
made of representatives from the
County’s various departments and
other stakeholders who work to
advance the strategies and actions.
The County Board receives
written progress reports
quarterly, and staff presents
on progress throughout the
year. The County also
communicates information
to the public on its website
and through other
communication platforms.
