Today’s flyover will be performed by the 125th Fighter Wing, a proud unit of your mighty
Florida Air National Guard, based throughout our great state of Florida. The 23 units
and nearly 1700 Airmen of the 125th Fighter Wing flawlessly execute an extremely broad
portfolio of Federal and State missions that keep us safe, both here at home, and abroad.
The lethal and undefeated F15 fighter aircraft on display in the skies above today, flown
by the proud 159th Fighter Squadron’s Boxin’ Gators, is an all-weather, extremely
maneuverable, tactical fighter designed to permit the Air Force to gain and maintain
air supremacy over the battlefield. Your Florida Air National Guard are continuously
engaged in combat support operations around the world, sustaining mobile test sites
around the state in support of our COVID19 mitigation plans, and simultaneously
providing a daily blanket of security here in Duval and beyond by maintaining the
sovereignty of the Southeastern United States through their vital 24 hour Aerospace
Control Alert mission.
