Growing up, Suzi had one brother and two sister. Suzi and her siblings were raised in the Lebanon area where she attended and graduated from the Lebanon High School in 1943. After graduation, she ventured to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the office for the Army. She remained there for just over a year, before deciding to return to Lebanon. After she returned home, Suzi became reacquainted with a school -aged friend, Richard “Dick” Palmer. In February 1945 Suzi and Richard exchanged vows at the First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. The couple was blessed with three children, Arthur, Ann and Thomas. Sadly, Ann and Thomas passed away, but have left a legacy of memories for Suzi to share. Not long after Dick and Suzi were married, they inherited the Palmer Funeral Home and Palmer Furniture, both located in Lebanon. Suzi did both the bookwork and sales. “What was supposed to be a temporary position turned into 17 years of hard work,” says Suzi. In 1989, Suzi and Dick decided to retire, sold both of the family businesses, packed up their fifth wheel trailer and traveled across the United States. “I enjoyed traveling and seeing new places,” said Suzi. After Richard passed away in 2009, Suzi attended the First Christian Church in Lebanon. There she met, Calvin Mitchell. Suzi and Calvin became instant friends and have been very close ever since. Calvin is a very dedicated friend and visits with her almost every day. Suzi joined the Colonial Springs Family in January 2014. She is a delight to be around, always cheerful with a positive attitude. Thank you for allowing us to get to know you better.
