Rosemary was a middle child, having three sisters and five brothers. She grew up in Kilgore until the age of 9 and then her family moved to Mountain Home, Ark. “I only went to school up to the eighth grade. My dad made us work for a living and help the family. I loved school, but I had to listen to my father,” said Rosemary. When she turned 18, she began a new chapter in her life. “My sister came and picked me up and I moved to South Dakota, where she lived. I worked as a waitress at a restaurant in Edgemont. This is where I met the love of my life, Enos Vanover,” said Rosemary. The Vanovers were married on Jan. 3, 1957. They enjoyed six wonder- ful years together until his passing in 1963. Their children included: Debbie Pickle, Ottis Vanover and Ray Vanover who reside in Buffalo; Judy who lives in Mountain Grove; and Mary who resides in Nipoma, Calif. Goldie and Delsie passed away. “I stayed single for several years and worked to keep my family fed. It wasn’t until 1971 that I married Tom Waller. We had one child, Tammy, who also resides in Buffalo. He passed away in 1987,” she said. After Tom passed away, Rosemary moved to California and worked at a convalescent home for seven years. “I tried to retire, but I just couldn’t do it. I guess you can’t keep a good woman down. I couldn’t just sit around. I had to do something, so I worked part time at various jobs,” said Rosemary. It wasn’t until 1999, that her son Ray told her that she was done working and she should move to Buffalo to live with him. She agreed, and resided with him until she came to Colonial Springs in May. Rosemary is a joy to be around. She enjoys helping everyone, and is a kind- hearted person who speaks to everyone and is willing to assist them in any way she can. Rosemary enjoys bingo, putting jigsaw puzzles together, as well as com- pleting word search and word fit puz- zles. But, most of all, she loves the visits from her 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Thank you Rosemary for allowing us to get to know you better.
