FROM THE PUBLISHER COLLIN COUNTY President & CEO Sam Houston Vice president & CFO Spring Houston Talented Women JennieJamesPhotography.com L ong-time readers will recognize McKinney audiologist Dr. Liz Brassine gracing the cover of this issue. Ten years ago, Dr. Brassine recognized the community needed a qualified audiologist to serve the hearing needs of this growing area, so she opened the doors of Hearing Services of McKinney. In the decade she’s been tending to the hearing needs of McKinney, she’s also been dedicated to providing educational articles to readers of LIVING WELL Magazine for many of those years. Now we’re turning the spotlight on Dr. Brassine and showcasing her audiology talent honed from many years of schooling and first-hand experience both in hearing aid manufacturing and in private practice. Her story on page 6 is a unique one and illustrates just how qualified Dr. Brassine is in her field of expertise. Another equally talented woman, albeit in a different field entirely, is Julianne Moore, our featured celebrity. The 56-year-old actress sports an impressive acting resume and has the awards to prove it. One of her most notable roles was her 2015 portrayal of a woman with early onset Alzheimer’s in the film, Still Alice, for which she was awarded both a Golden Globe and an Oscar. What you might not know about this stunning actress and author is that she wasn’t always the cool and confident woman you see on the big screen. Read more about this accomplished redhead starting on page 42. Next up, we offer you an exclusive look into the 21st annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, one of the most exclusive automobile shows in the nation. We also delve into the often complex and frustrating process of paying for long-term care. While no one can predict the future, becoming educated about the reality of public benefits and long-term care costs can help ensure you and your loved ones will be protected.
